THE STORMING OF SAN SEBASTIAN: the original has suffered
a minute tear which is just visible on the image above, and scarcely noticeable
on the reproduction.

THE BATTLE OF POITIERS: A fine, if wilfully anachronistic,
copper engraving of about 1750. King John of France is depicted surrendering his
sword to the Black Prince. However, they and all their men are dressed in military
costume of the mid-eighteenth century! A delightful curiosity.

BADAJOZ: .Plan and elevation of the fortress, published in
Germany probably 1830-1850. Not as detailed as the Alison map, but very attractive
nevertheless, and the elevation gives a very good impression of the huge strength
of the fortifications.
