MOUNT HOR, FROM THE CLIFFS SURROUNDING PETRA: this and the
following three prints are from original lithographs of the famous series of drawings
of the Near and Middle East by Scottish artist David Roberts. They were published
in 1856 by Day & Son of Lincolns Inn Fields, with the lithography by
Vincent Brooks, and reproduced in larger format by Cassell, Petter & Galpin
of London, Paris & New York. The Cassell versions were larger, at 9"
x 6" (230mm x 150mm), and we have made our reproductions this size. They
are printed on A3 paper.

NEAR JERUSALEM (EVENING): this and the following four prints
are from original colour lithographs by John B. Day of Savoy Street, the Strand, London. The artist was Elizabeth Ann Finn, wife of James Finn, the British consul
at Jerusalem 18491858. These are most attractive and unusual, clearly not
the work of an academically trained artist, but most accomplished nevertheless.
8.25" x 5" (210mm x 125mm).
