DESCRIPTION DE LANCIENNE-GAULE, c.1780: 21"x14.5"
(525mm x 370mm). Taken from Claude Buy de Mornas Atlas Méthodique
et Elementaire de Geographie et l'Histoire, published in 1756.. The map is
set between two columns of text, within a beautiful decorated border. The left-hand
column has a historical summary, the right a list of ancient locations within
the map, with their modern names. A very attractive map.
Four more maps from this atlas, two of which explain the
descent of the Celts from Japheth, son of Noah and father of the Titan Atlas (!)
