Our Americas pages comprise seventeen maps and seven views, reproduced
from originals dating from between 1840 and 1870. Several of the maps are from
the fine Fullarton World Atlas first published in the 1860s; besides
being highly decorative, these display a quite astonishing amount of detail, superior
to many more modern maps, particularly when one considers the diminutive size
of the originalsjust 8" x 6" (200mm x 150mm). Our copies, enlarged
by just over 100%, allow their excellence to be appreciated more easily, whilst
faithfully reproducing their delicate hand-colouring.
We are looking to expand this range considerably in the future, so if you do not find what you require today, please bookmark this page and come
back in a little while. Alternatively, if there is a map or view you are particularly
keen to have, let us know and we shall try to find it and add it to our list.
Unless otherwise stated, all maps are reproduced on heavyweight
A3 Super paper (13"x19"/329mm x 483mm). In virtually every instance, this represents a significant increase in size over the originals (as already
mentioned, over 100% in the case of the Fullarton maps). Similarly, views are
reproduced on A4 paper, with an approximate image size of 7" x 5" (175mm
x 125mm).
